I'm sure a lot of us didn't use it much because it was overwhelming and difficult to follow sometimes, but I know that lots of people loved it, and I'm one of them.

Just feeling reflective and thinking about what lessons can be learned from the whole experience, what we can use going forwards for the betterment of our community, and what we think are things we want to build towards.

I'm so utterly proud of this community, many wonderful things happened on the discord and in the weeks after the sub was banned, so many people came together and worked hard for the betterment of their comrades, we've witnessed a glimpse of the power of our solidarity with one another, and I can't wait to see how far we can go.

I love you all, and you know I mean it <3

I was talking to another ex-/r/chapo about optimal online discussion methods and we both reached the conclusion that some sort of forum (like reddit or old userforums, but maybe without upvoting) with a chat sidebar would be a good way to facilitate differently kinds of discussions.

The imageboard method is also intriguing for how dynamic that can be, but maybe without the image-in-the-OP requirement (and better archiving systems than what 4chan uses).

Lemmy + Discord so far is doing a pretty solid job, wish we had infinite page scrolling, maybe a sidebar for the communities, and a collapsible discord feed (also font scaling on mobile).

That's exactly the kind of stuff I've been thinking about! It's exciting being on such a young platform, the potential for its evolution is nearly limitless, I'm just so excited to see where we can go!

Just posted a couple of seconds ago that a matrix chat sidebar would be cool. We are posting a chat sidebar into existence.
