Biden is, and will be, an awful neoliberal goon. Yes, all the criticisms and attacks in the world are valid. The world will not be a good place with a Biden Harris White House.
But, if Trump stays in power we are at risk of both a non-region civil war and or an EXPLICIT Police State. Not that we don't have one now but instead of local pigs we will have military troops in all the streets.
Do not underestimate fascism.
I can't fault you for wanting to stand on principle and be moral people to your bones. I will not condemn you for not voting Biden.
But I would ask that you look at your fellow neighbors, comrades, and marginalized allies; Ask yourself if the networks you're built in your local communities are sufficient to protect them over the next 4 years.
Organize, build networks, protect each other. Remove fascists from power any way you can.
Protect your comrades, especially the marginalized ones, and aim for the slightly less disastrous outcome.
I like how even when you conceive of the threat of imperialism it's framed as Trump will bomb American protestors. Like, you can't even conceive of the brown lives. Biden will start a long term war that Trump won't because he doesn't like costly military engagements. Biden will invent facts to push for a war.
So, there is a thing that is taught in training on how to respond to emergencies and catastrophes.
Number One Rule: Step back and ensure your own safety. Getting yourself hurt means you can't help anyone else.
To stop Imperialism, you need to have solid footing to do it.
Obviously comrade, your idea of what kind of trade-offs are worth making for what guarantee of safety are ones I don't agree with.
I really hate this argument. It's been used by a friend to tell me why working for an oil company is good because it's for your economic safety. They had other options. Multiple ones. The oil company paid most.
I don't think Trump's attacks on the American people will ever, in sheer numerical terms match the number of dead that come from a war.
See, I can respect that position, which is why I specifically said I was not demanding everyone vote Biden.
But don't underestimate the dangers of having white supremacy and fascism validated in the giant popularity contest that is touted as "the people's will", that gives presidents "mandates" on their agenda. That kind of thing will set the course of politics for the next two decades. It will pull the window all the way to the right in one fell swoop.
