People will argue that it's good for Nicaraguan's and you don't care about the global south for being against it. It's definitely way above the average salary, but company's like this also tend to get very involved in local politics. Nicaragua has been good at avoiding US meddling, but that doesn't mean Canadian businesses aren't able to claw themselves in. They're a menace in the region and are involved in just as much union assassinations as US companies.

Edit: So of course neoliberal supports it while living in their cushy developed world homes. The thing is that yes the local population makes more than they do at home, but the issue is how these companies and their governments find ways to keep us exploitable. We aren't able to have proper welfare states or develop our economies in ways that benefit us because of various trade deals and such that keep it from happening. The end result is that we work for multinationals that hire mercs to wipe out union leaders while our governments continue to stagnate because Neoliberals need exploitable labor to make their products.
