I hate the Melvins. Buzz is fucking annoying as a person, and as a songwriter, every album they've ever put out is composed of 1, maybe 2 good songs and the rest filler. Their newer stuff is just butt rock.

Hyperpop is starting to lose its outsider edge and it’s just going to regress to normal pop eventually unless artists take drastic measures to keep the industry out of it

Hyperpop is artists like Poppy, 100 Gecs, Dorian Electra, Arca. Hyperpop follows the usual standard bright electronic sounds of Pop but turn it up to a degree where it almost becomes a parody of itself, kinda like an impressionist painting. It can be really noisy, obnoxious, chaotic, catchy. I’m probably not the best person to describe it, since I only listen to it sometimes, but it’s like a punk-esque twist on modern pop. While it used to be relatively fringe, it has become super popular recently, which I have no problem with, but I generally have fear for the authenticity and integrity of outsider-ish movements when the music industry starts to notice how much traction they get

It really sucks that SOPHIE isn't around anymore because what she was doing was really great and often different from a lot of what goes on under the label of hyperpop
