I guess the absolute bedrock level low expectations I had of Democrats was still too high. You'd expect this leak to be the one line in the sand that they'd defend since it's been part of their messaging for decades, but like literally everything else those at the top are just doing the :maybe-later-kiddo: shit. I still fear what a fully Republican controlled House, Senate, and Presidency would bring for marginalized groups around the country but the fact that abortion rights are set to be destroyed under a Democrat is probably the biggest evidence that there is no difference between the parties. Republicans may not be able to create a law forcing people to detransition nationally, but they'll do it everywhere they can with no resistance, they'll end abortion rights with no resistance. The absolute fear I have of the coming wave of hate-laws was enough to keep me voting out of just self preservation but at this point what's the difference, the same shit will happen under either party. Maybe some riots and civil unrest will force some hands, but we're already seeing the rollout of police brutality, Democrats continue to insist that they need to increase police budgets. I had zero expectations and somehow I'm still disappointed in how craven useless they are. Supreme court could come out tomorrow and say that all trans people needed to be jailed and Democrats would just sit there for a day and go "oh that's bad" and then enact it anyway because they need to be bipartisan and reach across the aisle. Fuck all of this.

Surely the hogs have been satiated by the promise of overturning Roe and we'll be spared the reactionary violence for a week or two, no?

Hogs don't get satiated, the second roe gets overturned we're gonna have "pro-life" militias roaming around red states harassing women. They're pretty much giving them a free pass. Some of these state have already legalized and codified bounty hunting, so don't be surprised when it happens.

I mean, Texas already passed a law incentivizing it, and its not like the south doesn't have a history of reactionary vigilantism. Maybe I'm too doom-pilled but I definitely can see this happening in the next couple of years.

a friend of mine and their partner had an abortion a year ago. There was a mob at the clinic that harassed people entering the clinic, especially women. They would encircle them and follow them right to the door until counter protesters could intervene and try to help. They were beating on their cars and shit..

If they feel emboldened to step shit up and find out a certain group in a specific place is helping women's rights i wouldn't be surprised to see groups going around to harass people. I mean someone on this site posted a fascist group openly planning to go "head to head" with people at pride this year, same shit really.

Definitely the type of behavior that would warrant a productive stay in the reeducation center, in the USSA.

pro-life” militias roaming around red states harassing women.

I'm honestly a bit worried about that. If this shit actually happens I plan on giving rides to women from WV to one of the states near by that won't ban abortion. There have always been violent protest at clinics but with this I have a feeling there will be people straight up trying to prevent women from leaving the state. Every one is WV has an arsenal and I'm worried this might actually end up being a dangerous endeavor.

Good points. I certainly haven't worked out all the details being this has only been in my mind for a couple of days. The first step will be to plug into a group, logistics and organizing aren't my forte but once I've found an org that's set up to facilitate this kinda thing I'll work from there.
