Wait she lost again? Didn’t she just lose like recently? If she keeps losing at this rate she’s gonna secure a cabinet position in the next white house. Also if you knew the democratic party was out for you why run as a democrat ???

DSA (outside of the local chapter which was told not to do it but they have the independent right to) did not endorse her. She has no relationship to the org and pretty much everyone in leadership does not like any of the former Sanders campaign people (outside of the ones who have gone all in on DSA and labor) and does not talk to them. Nina specifically was never going to get national endorsement (nor did she even seek it) because of political disagreements and also everyone was confident she would lose badly.

I don't even know if she is still a DSA member.

      yes, but...

if we can critically support Russia more or less on the sole basis of opposing and irritating America, it seems like we could do the same for people like Nina Turner, no?

Also, regardless of her own true beliefs, if it counters the perception that "democrats don't need the left", it seems like that would be a good thing.

The "squad" (I fuckin hate that name so much) still represent a step forward for leftism in this godforsaken country.

not in that dimension. but I think unlike other democrats, they do actually shift the Overton Window, which matters in the big picture.

so I don't think their value is in harm reduction or policy or anything to do with electoralism, per se.

But we need to make progress on a lot of different fronts to achieve leftism in this country and I believe that the public mainstreaming of more left-leaning language and ideology, even if they are grifters who don't believe it, represents a net positive after accounting for the bad stuff. which is precisely the sort of thing the term "critical support" exists to describe.

@granit , I think this applies to your comment as well.

So for progressive grifters we have that Shaun King guy, Nina Turner, some YouTubers mainly from the TYT cinematic universe ™ like the secular talk guy, dimmy Jore, and thst women from the hill, the people that took over BLM after the original leaders were assassinated by the police, who else?

Killer Mike as well, he went full lib after they attacked CNN

Don’t know why these “progressives” keep thinking that one day the Dems will just let them win. How many L’s do you have to take to realize electoralism isn’t gonna work.

It's just a jobs program for progressives. I know some of them might be genuine, but it's clear that the likes of Nina Turner are by now probably just using this to stay relevant long enough where they can end up with gigs as DNC or DNC adjacent operatives at some point.

Same happened to Kucinich after he had the audacity to be correct about Saddam not having WMDs and all the other dems said Saddam had to go.

Last year's election was a special election to replace Marcia Fudge, who got appointed to Biden's cabinet, so it was only a one year term. Nina lost quite a bit worse this time, which is no surprise, because she's up against an incumbent who is also the chair of the Cuyahoga County party.
