The most frustrating part about discussing this topic is the huge amount of copium people are on. A common one I hear is about all the new tech that will be available. Another one is that people will adapt. What they forget is that the tech they talk about still isn't there and that "adapting" usually involves a lot of death.
Edit: Forgot to add the next worst thing: Deflection. China and India have a larger population, therefore plastic straws shouldn't be banned and I shouldn't have to worry about throwing my trash in the river.
