        He's one of the main reasons cars have seatbelts now. He has a serious record in consumer safety type stuff, helped create OSHA (government workplace safety agency). He's probably saved a lot of lives through his continual advocacy for safety standards. Middle of the road political record otherwise. He's pretty lib, but one of the better ones. He ran for president a lot.

        He was the first politician I voted for.

        Shortest answer was he was the proto-Bernie, except he ran 3rd party. Libs melted down at him when W stole the 2000 election and he became a nation-wide pariah.

        I don't know if he ever identified publically as socialist but he was definitely a radlib of the best steak with stronger praxis than Bernie ever had.

        (That's actually the joke about posting this tweet FWIW, like he's not really known as a sports guy he is usual pretty serious and political so him posting about baseball teams with the same seriousness is funny because it's out of character)
