If you wrote up a list of all the evil things you could think of there's very little that British intelligence and security forces haven't done.
This has been going on a long time. I read an article about an woman who had a kid with a guy and then he just disappeared. (I think it was in the 70's.) They immigrated Australia. The mom died never knowing what happened to him. The kid eventually found him though a DNA website and he had a whole other family that had no idea.
