I like that Barclay shows that you don't have to be extremely confidant and hyper competent in order to make it in Starfleet. There's millions of people keeping those starships running and they're not all Picards.

It's not even the one where an alien probe makes him the most intelligent man who ever lived

At least it's not the one where he made waifus out of his female coworkers

The cringe levels of that episode were off the charts. Need :volcel-vanguard:

Of course, Trek has always been :panting:.... The horny levels of some episodes.... :sicko-wistful:

The cringe was fully intentional, as Barclay's coping mechanisms were clearly meant to be seen as unhealthy

Oh yeah, it's part of why Trek is godly even if it's horny.

Mirror Universe Kira was maximum :panting: and I often wonder if there was any irony there at all. At least Barclay was clearly painted as pathetic/cringe in that holodeck fixation.

Lest we forget that :geordi-yes: pulled the same shit with a holographic avatar of one of the starship engine designers.

Barclay episodes remind me of the hardass inspector who was controlled by aliens and gets blasted on
