From the article

The world’s second-largest economy will grow just 2% this year, Bloomberg Economics wrote in a report Thursday. By comparison, US gross domestic product will increase 2.8% this year, Bloomberg Economics predicts.

So the US isn’t outpacing China, Bloomberg PREDICTS it will outpace China. Propaganda in action folks. :pinocchio-ussr:

It even gives a different number that contradicts itself later in the story. :tito-laugh:

The Bloomberg Economics call is on the bearish end of the spectrum, with the median forecast for China’s 2022 GDP growth still over 4%.

Eh. Economists project future growth all the time based on current trends. A one-year projection isn't unusual. It just isn't particularly reliable, either.

This article sounds a bit like they're stacking America At Its Best to China At Its Worst, likely by leaning hard into "COVID lockdown make big number go down!!!" baseline assumptions. Given that last quarter's US GDP figures shrank, threatening a recession before the end of the year with another bad quarter, I gotta applaud anyone still predicting 2.8% growth through December. That's incredibly bullshit bullish sentiment, all things considered.

The whole article reeks of :cope: But the dick-measuring to China really does highlight how insecure American plutocrats are feeling going into the next decade.
