if you're going to try and get me to read a dogshit horny wish fulfillment romance manga at least have the decency to make it gay
I was on board until
like just make the love interest a middle aged office lady if you're writing for straights ffs. Or if you really need to capture the horny teenager market set it in highschool like every other piece of Japanese media
yeah. i am not as anti-horny as many on this site but like. come the fuck on. at the very least have the decency to not do that shit. and also just make porn, you clearly want to, no one reading it is doing it for any emotion they get from the characters or anything, everyone would be happier if they could just admit this was meant for people to jack off to and i could choose to not see it
yeah it's porn that's going for plausible deniability, making it worse both as porn and as a story. many such cases!
anime bad but also the gay high school comedy-romance manga my coworker was reading seemed cute
which one was that? there's a lot of cute romcoms out there, but i could always use more
That failed novelist? Infamous weaboo and sex tourist 'The Kharkhiv Kid Finder'.
they were making shit that was this bad in the 80s and 90s, they just didn't bother pretending it wasn't porn so it had no penetration
typed that without thinking about it, but you know what i mean
they were making shit that was this bad in the 80s and 90s
Go Nagai when making anything but the stroke of genius Devilman was
Oh, this sounds like the shining!
Keeps reading
Oh god no
That sounded pretty damn cool up until that third paragraph started existing.
i could really use something new to read but i dont know where to look aside from batoto's popular updates bit and that's all trash 90% of the time (and a lot of it is just porn, which is no). i guess it's cos while i can theoretically enjoy het shit i hate what cis het women tend to like?
maybe ill just reread princess wars again
hmm. my latest big romance rec is she loves to cook and she loves to eat, which is really good ongoing yuri (about adults! with jobs! i wrote a whole thing here). i haven't read skip and loafer but i've heard a lot of good things about it from people i generally trust.
Ooh that looks cute! I'll check it out tomorrow, thanks for the rec!
I think i started reading skip and loafer at some point but never got into it
update: i have read all the currently available chapters, it was very very good
yeah! there's at least 2 more volumes already out that haven't been translated and i'm very excited for when that happens
This reads like two different story descriptions got smashed together
I went into this thread expecting a completely different type of horrible manga.
At least we have genres I guess.
ahhh, yeah. that stuff doesn't get as much traction on the mangadex homepage, mangadex seems to gravitate towards horny wish fulfillment about 'this girl i'm next to is incredibly sexy but also the perfect tradwife and secretly in love with me!' that post one page a day
Sounds even worse. The tradwife stuff really elevates it over the usual yuck-level
My exposure to awful culture mostly comes from a web fiction discord I'm on, which is like 1/3rd good, 1/3rd awful fanfics, and 1/3rd power progression trash.
It's straight, but also very cute, and by the Jitsu wa, Watashi wa author.
But yeah, most of the "new" shit is dogshit.
That and r/manga are really bad in that regard. I found an alright way to discover stuff to read is (aside from harassing friends/comrades for recommendations) to the MAL interest stacks page.
From time to time, someone with actual taste puts together a decent list, instead of just listing 20 horny romcoms.
yeah i mostly harass friends and sometimes check out things people recommend here
and also recommend things a lot and sometimes people go "oh, i liked that! it reminded me of x, you should check it out!"
my soul is plenty clean, i was on mangadex reading GOOD manga instead
to be specific i was reading until i become me, which is a super sensitive and delicately portrayed take on a genderbend story about a young boy grappling with identity after becoming a girl. figuring out sexuality, trying to pass, etc
I sometimes wonder why I've lost interest in nearly all Japanese manga and have switched over to Korean manhwa with a light dabbling of Chinese manhua, and this post reminded me of how manga tends to be.
