My cats back at my parents' house did that, but they own the house. When I adopted kittens, they'd scratch the wall after using the litter box, but I nipped that in the bud by getting a litter box with a top on it.

My sister's dog ate a hole through a door because of separation anxiety, never really had a cat do much damage either.
