I think that's fair, maybe if it is longer having 'chapters' and other ways to organize information topically would be best.
I do listen to or watch academic seminars and lectures, do you think the same criticisms apply? I have a sense it does for some of the humanities one's I've attended or watched, though much of that may be because I have no background and no idea what is being talked about.
a lot of the time technical or academic lectures are just recordings of a livestream or zoom call so I think based on that I go in with different expectations. I guess in my mind a lecture is different than "youtuber talking at you for money"
once your videos are longer than like 30 minutes you should consider being a streamer instead because you're clearly incapable of editing things down
That's my take on so-called "video essays". Most of those are just someone loving the sound of their own voice.
