Thought this would be fun since this is one of the few political spaces where you don't have to pretend you've always been an infallible commissar.

Palled around with a trot organisation when I was 14 (I know, I went trot-an syn-ML so I'm better these days). Here's a couple highlights:

Constantly interrupted organisers talking about class structure to ask about legalising weed (appending my question with "that would be pretty cool for me" so they knew I was a cool guy that smoked weed).

Confidently telling a friend that "Stalin actually a hit put out on Lenin" a fact which bears no relationship to reality

I wrote honest to God fan fiction about the 4th international leading to a global revolution. Like somewhere between Turtle dove and NarutoXSasuke AU in terms of literary value.

Being majorly psyched for Obama...and then François Hollande (I am neither French nor american)

I'll lob some more in the comments!

I radicalized the night of the iowa caucus. Earlier that day on the bus home from canvassing in iowa, I told someone off for not supporting Juan Guaido

I think about it about once a week shudders

Why Guaido in the first place? What changed your mind on Venezuela? Genuine question, I have a few theories as to why people supported him but I can't wrap my head around it anyway

I was a lib lmao, I learned the concept of both critical support and cia psyops/ coups, but I fell for the manufacturing consent from npr of guaido being legit and having popular support, and also communism killed a billion people

Ahh yeah that's what I thought seemed to be the main reason for his support outside of gusanos. Media criticism is truly a blessing 😔😔

      Oof.

Weirdly no matter how lib I got I think I was always pro-Chavismo. Probably because it was irish lads that made a documentary about him and it gave me patriotic feels

Eh I'm mostly just taking the piss. The trots I know are good folks as an ML I just have some broader disagreement with aspects of their theory and don't feel the organising it lends itself to is likely to lead to success in the areas it puts it's emphasis on.

      I'm left unity gang though

          Yeah...that sure sounds like Trots.

But yeah they're sincerely leftists and I've worked with loads of good trots so you can do a hell of a lot worse
