            I'm likely forgetting something important because I got interrupted about 4 times trying to write this response, but the tl;dr is that it's always been there as long as Pride has been a thing. "kink" is kind of a social construct that involves deviation from society's sexual and gender norms, so it has always been part of the community.

            The origins of pride are radical, and the original Pride parade was organized by the Gay Liberation Front, as "Christopher Street Liberation Day", commemorating the anniversary of the Stonewall riots when the queer patrons of the Stonewall Inn decided not to let themselves be raided and instead to throw bricks at the cops who were harassing them. The GLF was named after Vietnam's National Liberation Front and had the radical leftist politics you'd expect — anti-racist, anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist, anti-nuclear-family, and opposed traditional gender roles.
