Parenti: against empire. Shouldn't be anything too mind blowing for an experienced Marxist, but still useful. Easy read - just take it with a grain of salt. In classic parenti style, there's no sources, and it's written like an opinion piece.
Others here are recommending his stuff on US media - just read manufacturing consent by Chomsky & Herman for that.
Fanon: wretched of the earth. A classic. See also: Aimé Césaire's discourse on colonialism , which is only 40 or so pages, so get the PDF online.
