Haven't bought shoes since I went vegan in 2020 and am looking for a pair of off-white trainers/sneakers. Thinking about the Humans Are Vain Eden V2, but the toe box is a little weird and they're a little expensive.
More generally, brand recs? Reviews are thin on vegan brands I have seen and I'm concerned about durability.
Effort comment. No brand recommendations but these seemed decent enough. Buyer beware, though. I am not looking for shoes but with some of these prices I'm actually tempted to possibly try one.
Anything not listed below was over $100 and ruled out. Options at time of search had men's and women's or unisex. From he/him pronouns I did look closer at men's shoes but thought might as well have options since many eyes might come across this post. Plus I like some of these women's options. Prices might be worth taking a flyer, you might want to check return policy since most of these are sale items.
Checked major sites other than Amazon, so might find a better vegan trainer/sneaker there. No ethical consumption under capitalism if you want to take a swing but I didn't want to wade in.
The Options:
from California, USA
Etnies has mostly skate shoes but the vegan Scout Plus has a thicker sole that might do well as trainers/sneakers.
currently on sale for $35.99 [reg $71.99] and I got a pop-up for 20% off first order but that might be only on full price.from UK
SUPERGA has a range from $22.50/$37.50 [sale] up to $89 of low and hi-top canvas [think Chucks]international
Sketchers GOrun from $50 up depending on stylefrom USA
Veja has low-tops and one hi-top on sale for $52 or $65.from Vancouver, Canada
Native Shoes don't really have sneakers, but there are vegan cold weather water resistent fleece-lined hi-tops.
Chamonix Bloom with soles made from algae, website claims vegan, up to personal preference. More colourful than Chamonix.
Chamonix rubber. Black or grey. Both $69.
Nova Hydroknit is sportier but they don't have laces. $64.@BurningVIP mentioned Emerica and seem to only have men's sizes, also look like all skate shoes if that is an option. From about $29 up in different styles.
@VHS mentioned GATs but those were all pricey from what I could find.
and
only in women's sizes
, but Zappos has Skechers BOBS $50 black, $61 red, $59 white [Zappos does free shipping and returns within 365 days unused]Thank you for effortpost :meow-hug: . This is helpful. Skate shoes and white trainers are pretty much unisex anyway apart from sizing. I ordered some Etnies to replace grey Vans but will spend a little longer searching for a cheap minimalist vegan GAT thing. They may not exist but I think wardrobe wise I could use them to replace my old brown Vans and dress a bit better
I went looking, mostly for plimsolls recently.
Gola makes like 4 styles that explicitly state they’re vegan. They come in a lot of colors too.
Vans, etc but the gotcha is even if it’s canvas, there may still be glue derived from animals
I am notoriously picky wrt shoes and trainers, so i’ll be watching this thread too
Are sneakers not vegan?? I kind of figured they'd be too cheap to use actual leather on any part of it unless you spend over $100... you're kidding me.
I hear some glues are animal-based, but I am currently coveting a white leather sneaker
