    The Osaka District Court ruling is the second decision on the issue, and disagrees with a ruling last year by a Sapporo court that found the ban on same-sex marriages unconstitutional.

    Most Japanese people are pro gay marriage, but it probably shouldn't surprise that their government heavily favors conservative interests. The judicial system is similar to America's, with a conservative-leaning Supreme Court which will probably be the last word on this issue when they get around to it.
