Theres so many weird things about it and i dont think ive ever heard a solid explanation for everything.

I never found any explanation convincing until Matt Christman suggested that the CIA tried to stage an assassination attempt and accidentally killed the president during it. That story just...it feels more like the world I know than any other scenario.

What about the bumbling secret service agent accidentally shooting him in response to Oswald's first shot?

I just like imagining the transformation from "we're gonna put the fear of communism into that bleeding heart pinko" to "oh fuck we just killed the president, OH GOD OH FUCK WE JUST KILLED THE PRESIDENT"

I don't remember specifics, but I've heard pretty convincing cases that the Cuban expats and New Orleans mob was involved. Like you said though, they could have been a cog in the wheel. Also, in Matt's Gladio history episode, he talks about how the CIA used organized crime in Europe to launder money through and get jobs done. So it would make sense that they had deep ties with the mob here too.

I remember hearing somewhere that after an attempt on his life by far right elements of the French version of the CIA, de Gaulle sent a wire to JFK warning him that the same could happen to him. JFK responded something like, "lol for that to happen here, you'd have to have a young president who had some kind of a Bay of Pigs situation oh no haha." I have no memory of where I heard that and I'm posting at work so I don't have time to go hunting all over, but when I heard that, it definitely confirmed my suspicion that the CIA had something to do with it.

Americans were seriously attempting false flag operations they could pin on Cuba to justify intervention. It would be hilarious if JFK's actual assassination was a fake assassination gone wrong.

Jack Ruby's psychosis being allegedly caused by that MKULTRA doctor only makes sense if the CIA did it

My favorite theory is that a bumbling secret service agent heard the shots from Oswald and fumbled his gun and blew JFK's head off.

To paraphrase Felix, if he actually made that shot it was the most poggers shot of all time

Is that actually true though? I think the idea that Kennedy was going to withdraw from Vietnam is ahistorical and is an anachronism used to advance the theory that there was some “deep state” plot to kill him.

He’d been escalating US involvement his whole presidency, no?

This is a clear answer. And to elaborate, the military industrial complex was too strong and too threatened to allow JFK to withdraw from their projects in Vietnam, the CIA generally, and Cuba. It makes you wonder though, could Obama have withdrawn troops from Afghanistan and Iraq completely?

JFK faked his death and now he records music on a remote island with Tupac.

I reckon (and it’s the same thing I believe about 9/11), it’s a mixture of incompetence/complacency on behalf of US intelligence.

Think about how many concurrent tips/investigations into threats against the president the feds must deal with at any one time. I think, like 9/11, they probably had knowledge of a potential plot and failed to stop it, without being “involved”.

I’m sure theres a good chance the CIA/feds had their hands in it financially somewhere, in the sense that they’re always paying/arming groups all around the world - again, similar to 9/11 imo.

But did a bunch of agents sit down in a smoky room and decide to waste Kennedy? I doubt it. Maybe it was some kind of CIA asset they lost control of - “hey if we create a credible threat against the president maybe he will give us more license to attack Cuba” or whatever.
