This just makes me support Russia a bit more out of spite.

Speaking of which, pardon the off-topicness but can anyone ELI5 why Hexbear does seem to support Russia (or at least hate it less) over Ukraine?

Ukraine in 2014 suffered a NATO backed neo-Nazi coup in which union organizers and Russian speakers were burned alive in union halls and persecuted. Their language banned. 14,000 Ukrainian Russian speakers bombed in their homes by literal neo-Nazis going on “safari”. Nazis from the Azov, Aidar, Right Sector, C14, Sevboda and Odessa union burning were appointed to governorship of oblasts, elected mayors, appointed interior ministers, heads of police departments, generals and military brass, etc.

There were 2 ceasefire agreements, Minsk I and Minsk II. Ukraine agreed to both. Ukraine respected neither and could not restrain their neo-Nazi national guard, which openly shelled civilian cities and breached the ceasefire thousands of times and killed civilians with white phosphorous. NATO took the opportunity to start militarizing Ukraine, training over 10,000 Nazi troops per year to their standards. The UK began construction of an airforce base. Ukraine was becoming a NATO Nazi fortress. They cut off water to millions of people in Crimea. They said they would seek nukes, and then Russia snapped.

This is the destruction of a NATO coup and the end to an 8 year civil war. Just like Russia ended the NATO color revolutions in Syria, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

Furthermore the geopolitical implications of this are massive. The west’s normal MO of sanctions and strangulation only works on small nations in a vacuum. Once enough nations are sanctioned and then you sanction the biggest resource exporter on Earth it backfires and becomes a self-isolating endeavor. The economic effects of this is the end of the global USD dominance, the decline of western military imperialism and the weakening of NATO combat capability

Mostly the literal nazis running the country while using their figurehead president's Jewish identity as a shield against being called out as nazis by liberals or the western media

      https://hexbear.net/post/204893

Theres way more to it than that but the nazis are mostly what did it for me

@Z_Poster365 You would be much better at explaining than I would, and if I'm not mistaken, you seem to enjoy educating people about this.

I don't think anyone here actually supports Russia (edit: meaning full-throated support of the government as a whole, as opposed to very critical support given the context) tbh, it's more a case of dunking on liberals' slavish unyielding support for nazi army battalions as per @ElChapoDeChapo's post.

From there, it's more a "let them fight" situation between two cappie fash shitholes and the only sympathy should be for the workers who wanted no part of NATO bullshit, the minorities who Azov rounded up and beat, and for leftists who have had their organisations literally outlawed in both Ukraine and Russia
