It depends on the extent of the parasocial relationship with the dog. There's certainly a threshold beyond which someone becomes white and I own one of my dog's flags.

false, in fact, the dog owns you and therefore himself and his flag and any soviet medals bestowed upon him

He keeps saying things like this but I think it's enabling his sense of grandiosity and need to sublimate his anxiety.

You're using parasocial incredibly wrongly. You and the dog both know each other and invest similar amounts into the relationship. Parasocial is when one member only vaguely knows of the other but the other has deep knowledge of relationship with the one.

Wouldn't it be parasocial in this sense? He knows I exist but he doesn't know that I've built an elaborate fantasy world around him. The relationship exists on those two separate levels and the latter is unreciprocated.

Your favorite youtuber doesn't actually know you, and you see an act they put on for you. Your dog knows you and you both see the real you, even if you interpret that reality differently.

It's that secondary relationship which is unknown to my dog. It'd be like if I stalked my favourite youtuber who knows they have an audience but not the extent of my devotion to them. Making a fantasy world around an extra relationship to them that they don't participate in would be parasocial.

Your dog knows you feed them and pick up their poop and take them to the vet. How does your dog not know how you feel about them?

He knows that relationship exists. The youtuber knows they have an audience who contributes to their patreon. They're both aware of one level of social relationship and it's a transactional one even if they like the idea of their audience or he likes his owner. The parasociality is when there's a one-sided fantasy relationship built on top of that which the other side either doesn't know about or doesn't accept. Sasha knows he's Sasha but he doesn't know he's the Marshal of the Democratic People's Republic of Sashatown. That only exists for my benefit because I'm pathologically white, and his participation in it is the same as if I screenshotted that youtuber doing one thing and photoshopped them into doing something else.

Oh I get it! You in particular are weird because most people just have dogs and think of them as dogs.

Precisely. That weirdness is what we call the white race. I can tell you whether someone is white or not just by looking at them and seeing if they have a dog dressed in some sort of elaborate outfit.
