There must be some type of large scale lobotomization programs under way.

Edit: grilling and drinking and hanging with friends is not celebrating the holiday, it's just having a party.

Celebrating the 4th of July means like the lib bougie civic-minded patriots who buy little flags and wave them and shit and think about how great america is (these are the zombies I was talking about: the nerd ass people who are still generically patriotic but not fash/chuds in this current political environment). Then there are the fash/chuds who celebrate it because "murica #1" and "we kill the most people" and "we just outlawed roe vs wade" etc etc.

As someone who had nothing to do with this discussion until now, I really don't get what your point is. Is this a bit? Because it seems to me like you're both on the same page (and are planning similar activities, even), and yet you started this thread by saying he celebrates the fourth

I'm definitely not planning the same activities. I'm criticizing people planning fourth of July celebrations which many people in this thread seem to be doing (including the person I'm arguing with). Celebrating and having big events on this day is inappropriate and gross

He's going to spend time with friends and family. You're going to hang out with friends. Is it the "and family" part that makes it a nationalist celebration as opposed to a righteous anticapitalist gathering?

This really isn't that hard to get so idk what's going on here. Having a fourth of july event is celebrating the fourth of july. I never said I was having some event. As far as I'm concerned everyone here having a cookout with friends and family is having a fourth of july celebration and my mind won't be changed on that

Fair enough, but it seems like an odd thing to get worked up about. I feel like Thanksgiving is a better holiday to give people shit about (but then, I hate pretty much every single part of the traditional meal, so I have historically fed myself on dinner rolls on that day).
