The fact that Twitter makes you delete your own tweets feels genuinely Orwellian tbh.
I mean fuck Jordan Peterson and I'm it gonna weep about the loss of a transphobic tweet, I'm just speaking in general.
It’s very much a discipline thing. Puts the onus of moderation on the person being moderated and gives an easy out of “they were given a simple way to be unbanned and they refused to take it”
Kind of reminds me of Hexbear’s policy of “just take the ban and make a new alt if you don’t wanna appeal” because the people who are gonna be toxic about the ban can’t handle just quietly making another alt. They’ve gotta start agitating and making a stink.
HypotheticallyI have no faith moderators would review my appeal in good faith, and by the time I have a new account up and it's been active long enough to dm them, I'm over it.
But again, hypothetically, I feel just like Peterson does here when big bad mods come for me (except, unlike him, I am justifiably righteous).
