Honestly I think half the thing is that Linux probably had a moment a decade ago for reasons I can’t remember (windows vista? windows 7? prism scandal? no fuckin idea) and it was so much worse back then. I was there, I know it.

Windows 8? I jumped ship in 2013 precisely because of Windows 8 and how Windows 8 was a sign for things to come. I think that was also around the time when Microsoft began aggressively pushing out telemetry bullshit. Extended support for XP ended in 2014 as well.

It makes sense that somebody unable to uncheck the box "install McAfee antivirus with [freeware.exe]" would also have a major aversion to Linux.

Now I begin to better understand the right wing philosophy.

"Sure, you might do X thing to solve problems, but that would put you in the out-group. You don't want to be abnormal, do you?"

Hooked up into my gamer chair like I'm the God Emperor of Man, forced to install McAfee lest my life support be forcefully shut off, praying the next mandatory system update won't make me piss myself again.

Windows fanboys will always be cringe compared with Mac and Linux fanboys because at least Mac and Linux fanboys had used Windows before and so have something to compare with. Your average Windows fanboy has little to no experience with other OS, making their mindless simping completely unjustified and cringy.

They are about as technologically illiterate as your average Mac user, but somehow, they have this pretension that they are not. How else do you explain their temper tantrum over having to open bash as if Windows troubleshooting doesn't involve using cmd.

Mac is bad and people who attempt to defend Macs will be cursed to using Emacs instead.

the people's OS of china is a Linux derivative so we will have reeducation camps for Linux, but not in the way you think they will be
