    here's the article https://archive.ph/FPg5x

A lot of people have attacked me for that – I’m the stupid person’s smart person. But you know, I’m not so upset about that definition. What are they? The smart person’s smart person? And I thought you weren’t elitist. Part of the role of an intellectual is to articulate what people know but can’t say. In that sense, I’m doing my job.

In the full quote Peterson says that he knows other people have called him 'the stupid person’s smart person' but he's now using the label for himself. This is very typical 'I'm not owned' coping behavior. He wants to reframe himself as someone who is humble instead of it being that only stupid people think he's smart.

"The role of a smart person is to articulate the unexamined emotional impulses of people"

"To confront and examine them, right?"

      "Yesssss....."

      :what-the-hell:

Edgelord comedians whose entire brand is "telling it like it is" are intellectuals, then. And :trump-anguish: is an intellectual by that definition, when it comes to articulating what chuds feel but are afraid to say first. SAD!

I mean there's levels to that,

If I think a movie is bad but can't say why, then reading a movie review that talks about why said movie is underwhelming will help me figure it out. I don't like marvel movies because they're like amusement park rides (Scorcese said this), but all i knew before that op-ed was that i didn't like them. But I like to know why I don't like things.

Peterson is clearly the edgy-cishet-comedian type of telling it how it is, but like many Peterson quotes this isn't bad out of context, but bad when he says it because of who he is. Washing your penis is also good advice, but when Peterson says it you know it's going to go back to tradition/hierarchies/chaos/stupid-Jung-archetypes/FEEEEEMALES, etc.

Also telling that he probably doesn't know why he's a dumb-guy's smart person, he probably thinks he's actually insightful even though he's not cited too often in his actual field he got a PhD in, and isn't a real philosophy prof to get to write about indecipherable Jung stuff like Zizek gets to write about Lacan.

:jordan-eboy-peterson: 's good advice is almost entirely things that his followers' bitch moms once told them to do, but now that a weepy daddy figure with a degree said them, it's suddenly wise and profound.

The paintings, he explained, were an aide-memoire of the iniquities of totalitarianism and the evil of art being subordinated to propaganda. He particularly relished the irony of having bought them for a song on eBay: ‘The most capitalist platform that’s ever been invented!’ [...] the paintings [were] put in storage. ‘They got a bit depressing,’

Perfect encapsulation of rabid anticommunist boomers unable to accept that this is the timeline where they won, that they fought the cataclysmic confrontation against the red scourge and slew the dragon in defense of the homeland and the fallen world they rail against is exactly their reward.

Fuck I've said it before recently but he's so fucking boring! He sucks! He's not even an original bigot he's just repeating shit other bigots have told him. Like he's supposedly worked as a clinical psychiatrist but he pretends (actually believes?) that surgery is a first resort for any patient diagnosed with gender dysphoria. He compares "making kids trans" (i.e., not sufficiently punishing them for deviating from assigned gender) to sacrificing them to Moloch and like at that point you'd think he'd have the stones to just admit that he's a moral majority born again christian freak but he insists on cosplaying as a serious intellectual.

And like wow, you came to the conclusion that ideology is bad in the 90s? So fucking original! Not like that's the dominant message of the neoliberal project that peaked in the 90s or anything. Not like that isn't what every single lib removed with a television career has been parroting since the Berlin wall fell dude! Not like the very function of ideology itself is to draw an invisible circle and declare everything outside it "ideology" and everythign within uncomplicatedly true. Are you sure you hate Derrida?

‘There was a bit of contention during the talk. My brother said, “We don’t know what to do with you, we don’t know what to say, because there’s two of you. There’s the person we knew, and there’s whoever the hell you are now, and it’s hard for us to adapt to that.” They don’t know who the hell I am.’

Yes; to me, that translates out to "I am what stupid people believe a smart person would be like", the heavy undertone being that he is, in fact, not smart.

What a sad little life he carved for himself. He wanted to be prime minister and now he's just the prime minister of people who pissed in jars.

I can't think of a single cool or interesting person who likes or openly supports Peterson's ideas.

On some level he has to know how he will go down in history if he's even remembered at all: a useful idiot who enabled fascism for money.

He knows he's a loser who can only get a bit of fame by attacking people who are okay with themselves.

I mean for god's sake, it's a greater than 0% chance that his daughter tried to kill him.

He's got nothing and no one.

It just goes to show the true ugliness in the lowest common denominator that the vast majority of people like this prick.

Dark core personality traits are a plague that needs to be stomped out and how dare anyone with a psychology PhD openly encourage people to embrace the dark core.

In the Canadian conservative leadership debates, they asked a final question about books people are reading, and Poilievre mentioned 12 Rules for Life.

Poilievre is a stereotype of a Peterson reader, even pushing crypto-currency related inflation myths. And he's probably going to win opposition party leader. So you can't count JBP out completely yet sadly. I was hoping he'd disappear after the coma, but of course he got more stupid and publicity-chasing somehow.
