Oof, written by socialist willy wonka himself. Have they changed at all or is it still his little hermit kingdom?

I don't want to fucking hear anything about the Democratic party having any left or socialist candidate waiting in the wings. It's fucking over. I've been listening to this shit for twenty fucking years, and I'm fucking done. There is not going to be a takeover of the Democratic party from the inside, there will only be a slow ratchet effect to the right and the continual sabotage of the left wing of the party, in the defense of capital. There is not point, and I am done fucking reading shit like this where someone comes along and says "but this time it's different! It's the same people, same party, BUT SOMEHOW IT'LL BE DIFFERENT!"

Bernie really was the nail in the coffin. He had a way larger base of passionate supporters than anyone in the 2020 primary. They still rat fucked him good and hard. They did it right out in the open. They basically said, hey look what we're doing and there's nothing you can do to stop us. If it didn't happen then it's not going to happen.

My good friend Jay bee pritzker, a guy who actually had plans past saying things but is still a garbage man as all dems are. Ill governor

If we're talking about politics as a sport... honestly yeah Pritzker running is probably the best shot the Dems have at holding the white house. I think most libs, even if they don't admit it, NOW realize you need a president who will actually wield power and do whatever it takes to win. Get their hands dirty if need be. Pritzker genuinely is that kind of guy, I think he was the first governor to say "fuck it I'm just gonna get PPE any way I can". Dude would've made deals with the mob to get some masks and gloves.

I'll give him "not as bad as I expected" but that's as far as I'll go.

He's a quintessential "Do Somthing!" guy, which is the sort of guy that Americans generally like in government despite what a Reaganite would tell you.

Of course, the shit he does is likely to be very short-sighted and unlikely to be particularly left-leaning. He's going to be the kind of President that happily opens up ANWR to drilling while telling the National Guard to start sticking solar panels made with conflict cobalt on everyone's roofs, in order to get energy prices down.

In that sense, maybe he really is the FDR (or at least the LBJ) we were all promised back when Obama ran. Another guy who can save capitalism from itself.

All I know about Pritzker is that he's the governor of Illinois. And from the self text and comments I see Chapo has mentioned him.

I thought Pritzker was a bog standard democrat. I don't get the jokes.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I knew he was a big boy.

the joke is apparently that he’s like, one of the only billionaires that IIRC has yet to argue that we need to blend poor people into a fine paste (the bar really is that fucking low). Also he’s passed policy (unheard of for democrats), and is truly a presence.

Robinson is a world-class windbag. I assume the article is ~8,000 words and yet he used 100 times as many words as he should have. He could have his point in ~80 words. I want to know but I don't want to know that badly

          Basically:

He has done good things as governor

          He is not Joseph Biden

Huh, Illinois leftists think he's at least okay (as far as billionaires go)

He hasn't definitively said he's not running

He's legit better than the average dem because he actually does things. Not enough or cool enough things, cause he's a dem and a billionaire, but he's fine. Might actually address covid if he were president, but it's doubtful he would be and it would still be half measures.

Briefly browsing the site after clicking the link:

    2. How in the hell is he advertising for a print edition of his blog?

I live in Illinois, he's a billionaire and his family is the reason people with poor credit scores have trouble finding jobs, but he would be the best president the US has had since LBJ, and probably with less bombs.

This article is the first I'm hearing about him. I'm largely in agreement with the piece's premise - electoralism is a meme, but this guy is probably better than Brandon or De Santis. If he can slap a few bandaids on this rotting structure I guess fewer people will suffer
