I deeply, passionately, truly hate lawn culture. Fuck lawns.

I lived for many years in the American west. It's a stunningly beautiful area filled and polluted with the worst people. Just acres of lawn in every direction despite every single environmental cue screaming "THIS IS A FUCKING DESERT".

i drive by an area regularly that was a sort of swamp/bog but they cleared it for housing. i always laugh because all the lawn grass dies off because of how acidic and innutritious the soil is and i see all the boomers toiling outside maddeningly trying to fix it, presumably being eaten to shit by bugs that once inhabited the swamp/bog

and for real, lawn culture in a desert in maddeningly insane. seems like a perfect opportunity to import japanese rock gardens laden with pretty native plants but apparently not

Blowing the dust off of the Project Plowshare files & blasting a channel of craters through the Rockies to fill my above-ground pool.

Sounds like a major infrastructure project, which pretty much guarantees the US will never undertake it

boomers would really create one of the world's most ambitious irrigation projects just for some boring green plants to look at

It'd genuinely be impressive if it weren't for the most bafflingly stupid reason on earth
