He's basically the embodiment of "conservative who whines about everything". He hates on vegans for no reason with the same old talking points on shows and stuff like that.
I'm pretty surprised he said this, but this might be the token "correct about one specific issue" thing that happens a lot.
he's used right wing talking points/phrasing talking about san francisco, houseless people, evidence of poverty, etc. super casual classist shit
In Barkley's defense, never once have I heard him cast blame or aspersions onto the houseless people themselves, and San Francisco (in my opinion) fucking sucks. It's genuinely depressing with how insanely rampant the homeless / addiction / housing affordability / access problems are, and how disgustingly indifferent the lib brogrammer population is. You can't walk one block without seeing a human being in abject misery.
You are correct that Charles does not use his platform to effectively point out the roots of these problems, ie capitalist land speculation. But in a just world, San Francisco as it exists today would burn.
Oh I was just talking about his outdated views on how to play basketball.
He's kind of a dinosaur in that he thinks that shooting teams are playing wrong or bound to lose. He thinks everyone should be powering to the rim.
His take made obviously wrong because, you know, the Warriors.
Critical support for now, but I can never forgive Barkley for the Chaos Dunk and ushering us into the post-cyberpocalypse
spins the wheel of dogshit takes

WOW! Congratulations, you've landed on "One Free Good Take."
He, for a moment, went from jamming with the rest to slamming with the best.
I kinda feel bad posting this now. I haven't really paid much attention to him since the 90s, and had no idea he has had such shitty opinions since then.
Don't feel bad, its not like you're endorsing everything about Barkley or are expected to know everything about him. His reputation amongst basketball fans is mostly "lovable goofball who says mostly stupid things that get made fun of, and every now and then having a good take", so its pretty in line that this is his one good take amongst many bad/stupid ones. He also always said he never wants to be a role model and doesn't believe he has much influence over things so he can make the jokes he does about homeless people or overweight people, so its unlikely he'll ever be known as someone without some shitty opinions. Its still better that he is saying this rather than saying nothing or saying something shit about gay/transgender people.
