I think a lot of people in this thread are underestimating how much the suburban chuds fucking LOVE DeSantis.
The 4chan/QAnon chuds who brought Trump to the top love him because he owns the libs, same as Trump.
The white-flight suburb chuds love him because he’s a bit more mask on than Trump. He’s not as crass, but he still “calls it like it is”
And the dedicated christo-fascists/evangelicals love him because unlike Trump, he’s dedicated to the cause and gets stuff done. DeSantis has moved their agenda forward in Florida way more than Trump did as president, with the exception of his court appointments but that would’ve happened with any Republican. His anti-LGBT policies and rhetoric are the ultimate dream to these people.
Finally, Capital probably prefers him to Trump, because he’s quieter and more stable. All you have to do is go along with his anti-gay genocide and he’ll make sure the money keeps flowing. Trump provokes too much outrage.
DeSantis is the competent fascist we feared would come after Trump, and I don’t think you should underestimate his chances of winning.
Capital definitely prefers DeSantis to Trump. Trump was a foreign policy disaster for the neoliberal agenda. Latam has made a huge left swing, Europe is a mess. China, Russia and Iran are ascendant. They won't let Trump get anywhere near power again.
The way desantis just started acting like trump to win over the MAGA crowd makes me think he is more of an amoral climber who just wants to ascend in power however he can, not an ideologue. But maybe not. And he just hands out money like candy to supportive constituencies to gain loyalty from them even though most republicans hate giving handouts to the peasants. So it makes me think he’s not an ideologue but an amoral sociopath who just wants to achieve his dream of getting as high up in power as possible.
