Other than San Francisco, where can a weirdo or non-model-citizen live in relative safety?

I'd say pick a state whose politics are dominated by a big expensive progressive city like NYC, Minneapolis, Seattle, or San Fran, then find a smaller city in the same state, possibly a college town (of course not living near the actual campus where rent is fucked). That way you have some protection from day to day bigotry, because you live in a city and a college town, and you have some protection from organized state-enforced bigotry, because the state's politics have to answer to the larger city.

I don’t want to promise too much but I think Philly is a pretty cool place. We’re a swing state and we have an actual fascist running for governor this fall but cost of living is relatively low but Philly is overall very cool. Chased the proud boys out of town multiple times and i feel like the overall vibe is good. Humidity sucks though

I don’t know If this is a stereotypical thing to say about a city but Philly is a city of neighborhoods and a lot of them can make you feel at home.

Im an introvert and haven’t done much in the way of organizing (I’m also lazy) but If you make the move feel free to message me

Basically that's what I wanted to imply with my "other than San Francisco" line. I am broke as hell but I could do with a place that is relatively safe for the time being, as I do my best to save what I can to eventually leave, or at least live under the radar from the hogs.
