1.6 drops TOMORROW and CA has been teasing patch notes for the past week. Everyone thought it might be a swamp farm type, so this is wildly different than what's been speculated. Giving you a coup that early is absolutely wild.

This is like starting out with +5600g and not having to wait for Robin to build the coop. I wonder what's the catch for this farm type.

Yeah it's crazy. The assumption is that there must not be as much land to grow crops or something similar, cause otherwise it would just be too op.

        Wild guess:

        Pro:

        • Effectively start out with +5600g.

        • Grazing blue grass raises happiness level faster.

        Con:

        • You can't grow crops where blue grass grows.

        • Blue grass soils covers the majority of the farm.

I have never played Stardew Valley but its on my to do list. What else do we get with the new update ? Plus what exactly does the Meadowlands farm do ingame ? Are there different starting farms ?

It's just your starting farm: https://www.stardewvalleywiki.com/Farm_Maps

Each farm is tailored towards a particular playstyle although plenty of people choose a farm type based purely on aesthetics. Relative to the standard/original farm type, every other farm type has a pro and a con.
