And we want to stay close to the left side of that. Stretch a lot and you're easy to dismiss altogether; stretch a little and you waste all your time arguing that instead of talking about the stuff on the left that can't really be credibly disputed.
Think of the left side as supporting something with citations from the NYT, and the right as Grover Furr breaking out "Stalin didn't commit even one single crime."
