I sometimes do not understand the hate that people have towards JP.

I like JP’s social views on relationships, habits, parenting, men & women, etc. and he’s one of the most renowned psychologists in the world. Why so much hate? Genuine question.

Thanks

Women in general aren’t interested in “public intellectuals”, longform podcasts or discussions/debates etc.

imagine saying this and then wondering why you have trouble dating

"It must be my intimidating, indomitable intellect that does not stoop to the lowly plains of commonality feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemales are used to!" :very-intelligent:

I would never genuinely say that, but if I did I'd mean it as a good thing towards women. Debate bros are whack.

Yeah, "public intellectuals" aren't usually what this guy thinks they are.

On top of all the many other problems with the excerpt, two things:

If you take apart the conjunction, you see the assertion "women aren't interested in discussions". :thonk:

Also, the idea that women specifically don't like longform podcasts is hilarious. I'm pretty sure they make up the bulk of the audience for the truecrime genre, for instance.

I admit that it's also a stereotype to some degree, but that's part of what makes it so baffling to me that he couldn't even consider sexist tropes in his evaluation of women, let alone real women.
