Reddit is full of reactionary western "leftists". From calling Lenin a traitor to the working class to calling USSR and China imperialist countries. Chauvinistic crackers masquerading as "leftists" to shill for the west.
The chauvinism of :reddit-logo: is insufferable and makes even most of “left” reddit unusable. I saw someone call Lenin an opportunist and claim queer rights were “bourgeoisie decadence” in a single comment.
In contrast, Hexbear banning for chauvinism, sectarianism, and bigotry has made this site one of the only functional leftist spaces on the western internet. “Free speech” spaces are an idealist grift that only benefit entrenched power.
The rhetoric and ideas of oppressors, colonizers, and imperialists should be censored.
Thats not reddit, thats the general legacy and position of modern american "libleft" . They arent "online positions". They are the mainstream and the ones held and propagated by figureheads like Chomsky. Of course you can fault red scare and cointelpro but at some point onwards its chauvinism and embracing anti-communism more happily than any population on earth
