It was a really fun and great movie. It seemed like there was nationalist tones I didn't get and some anti Muslim beats, but I have zero historical understanding.
RRR is weird, it's a really heavy handed portayal of British colonial oppression and racism but then it also plays directly into the racist/casteist beliefs that are prevalent in India (Bheem being an awkward brutish tribeman compared to Raju being an intelligent, charming upper class man). If you're not really aware of it it's pretty easy to miss though so I still recommend it as a really good action film for people new to Indian cinema.
Spoilers for RRR, please watch it

I don't remember the anti-muslim beats (definitely some hindu nationalism) but I remember seeing an article saying members of the indian government had threatened the director because they had Bheem wearing islamic headdress. The movie is mainly criticized from what I've seen for having a major plot point being giving guns to the oppressed people and how it's worrying at a time when far-right groups are arming themselves in india . . . But what else do they expect the characters to do in this movie? Beat the british with love and friendship? I mean fuck at one point they almost don't get the guns. I think in the ending song (the most nationalist part) they show a bunch of influential hindu figures who are from both extremes of the political spectrum that its really quite astonishing that all they care about is the fact they were hindu.
EDIT: see reply
Ok this is ignorance on my part, brain conflated Hindu and Hindi my bad.
It's the best action movie I've seen in a long time. Everything is delightfully over the top, the laws of physics are a mere suggestion.
Worth watching it to see someone throw a leopard at an English colonial soldier.
My favorite part is probably where Raju shoots the arrow into the tree and the tip is like an inch away from the guys face before Raju stomps it the rest of the way through and impales the soldiers skull.
