A lot of chess competitions are just chess players playing, the olympiad (most recent major tournament) however is kinda the Olympics of chess.

I understand why Firouzja left, Israel is/was very important on the Middle eastern chess stage, and if you can't play against them then you lose a lot
Now I also understand Iran's thinking, but things dont have to be black and white correct and not.
