Yaaa no idea how the norms work in a tournament like this but damm that's a performance rating at the GM level.
Overall young players killed it. I mean Uzbekistan winning with a young team, India 2 absolutely going wild. Amazing Olympiad. Just some Shakey performances from the worlds top players
Yeah, it was really amazing to see except for the fact that the US was such a big letdown. Fabi is one of my favorite players and I hope he gets back in form soon!
Fabi is one of my faves too so that part was painful. I'm sure he'll get back to it but it was a rough ride. Everyone on that team struggled this tournament. So was the best... Only lost 2 rating points.
Yeah, that tough candidates tournament probably led to this.
Also, some of Carlsens recent results makes me think he wont be reaching the 2900 mark, which is quite a shame as it'd put a lot of Fischer stans to rest I think as to who the GOAT is.
Ya I can't imagine after collapsing a bit in the 2nd half of the candidates tournament he's feeling great. Especially considering Carlson not defending. He is a pro. He'll be back.
Carlson did fine in this tournament... But ya gotta do better than fine to get 2900. Can't be drawing IMs
WIM according to chess-results. Still amazing 9.5/11 absolutely wild
Oh yeah, I wasn't sure if she was getting a WIM or WGM norm from this tournament. Anyways, 9.5/11 is god tier.
