idk, there's a lot of highly specific German brainworms at play here. Being confronted with living in Naziland is hard to deal with, it leads to all kinds of weird ideas when you don't have a thoroughly leftist worldview that makes it intuitive to reject fascism. When you realize "this happened here, i know people who where part of that regime", it's honestly terrifying.
