"Cocaine, it's like great for a week ... Not so good iterated over 20 years. Alcohol's the same way. Casual sex is the same way. Any of those. We all know this. There isn't anyone who doesn't know these things."

Before we go off on a binge of reflexive contrarianism, I just want to remind everyone that there are comrades here who are struggling with very real addiction problems and I hope we can show some sympathy and solidarity by not glorifying the addictive substances that they're fighting to stay clean from.

I don't think most people are going to say that drinking a liter of sake before noon is a good idea for a meaningful life. It's much more fun to dunk on him ranting about casual sex because I'd bet cash money he's never actually engaged in it, he's been with the same woman since he was a teenager I believe.

        Rhetoric: Impossible FAILED

Alright, Jordan, this is it, the time to put to rest all the whining liberals and postmodern neomarxists with a quick, succinct rebuttal of their most cherished ideals. You got this.

“Up yours woke moralists, we’ll see who cancels who!”

At least you didn’t cry, I guess.

Says the drug addict that does bs clinics lmao.

He's right that they are short term forms of hedonistic pleasure, but he literally partakes in them to the point he almost killed himself from drug addiction.

Why would you take advice from him on how to escape the hedonism of society when he himself can't even do it, and went to a bs drug clinic in eastern europe that put him in a coma.

If you want to escape hedonism, there are so many healthy ways to do that. Being sober, straight edge, long term relationships, not watching porn, etc. Not this Peterson fake masculinity bs.

Putting someone into a coma so they don't experience benzos withdrawal is not legitimate medical practice, to put it lightly

Medical comas are used sometimes for someone suffering from seizures, which can be caused by severe benzo withdrawal. From what I know of the case, it was a reasonable practice.

I actually am not a fan of any of those things. Never tried cocaine though and don't plan on it.

Coke is incredibly addictive, expensive, and has a shitty comedown. I’ve got too much addiction in my family and I’ve already seen too many friends struggle with it as well. Not for me

I learned early on that if all the people who do a drug tell you not to do it, listen to them. Never smoked cigarettes either for the same reason. Weed and shrooms for me

Also not getting ripped off is basically impossible outside of Miami. It's like a one-time drug for poor people and a party mainstay for rich losers with no other personality traits.

cocaine is one of the least fun drugs i have ever done and i recommend it to precisely nobody

it's just spending a few minutes out of every 20 or so going and doing more cocaine, it's expensive and it sucks

At one of my first jobs, doing sales, my manager told me I should do coke because it would improve my sales. I have avoided it ever since.

I fully agree with this sentiment. Peterson sometimes says things I would agree with but in the dumbest, weirdest way possible. I don't like drugs and alcohol, and I find the idea of having sex with someone I don't know or want to have a deep relationship with repulsive. His condescension makes me really consider all those positions carefully.

I had a FWB for a couple years, we were both in sorta transitory periods and never really tried taking it farther than enjoying each other's company because we both wanted different things out of life, she did get a little jealous when we stopped seeing each other because I started dating someone I really liked but there were no hard feelings in the long run.

I don't really see why you mention this. I don't want a relationship like that or a hook up thing or a one night stand. Your experience has not bearing on this.

I had a period of time that I drank a lot, but I was young and it was pretty functional. tons of exercise, etc. but that only lasted a few years before it felt like a dumb, expensive hobby. had times off and on where I was hooking up, but it wasn't satisfying.

but I'm coming up on 20 years of weed. I mean there were times I couldn't because of circumstances related to prohibition and/or employment, but they were the exception. it's not for everyone, but for me: so far, so good. lmao.

explains why i always thought it sucked. it never did that "click' thing that amphetamines did no matter how much i took. and the click was just where my mind felt normal like a derailed train was put back on the tracks.

Yep same. ADHD brain makes cocaine very different to the experience other people talk about. I know some that say something about it but it's not the same as what the average person experiences, but for me it's literally nothing, does absolutely nothing at all. A drink is a better investment.

This might be a stupid question but does that mean you can do cocaine to figure out if you have ADHD?

I guess maybe? It didn't work out that way for me though. I discovered cocaine was rubbish for me in my teens but it wasn't until years later that my ADHD was discovered when it deteriorated significantly. I then stumbled across the fact people with adhd have different experiences with cocaine and made the link rertroactively.
