    Bernie was the most earnest, good faith attempt at saving the empire the ruling class could ever expect to come from the proletariat. From here on out, they can only expect the gravity shave. By crushing Bernie, they demonstrated that they aren't even acting rationally, and there is no way you can negotiate with an irrational counterpart.
