You're really cool if you filed a bug report instead.
My wife was a Windows user for a long time before we met. She was curious about all the stuff I was able to do while getting increasingly frustrated at Microsoft doing typical Microsoft things and eventually asked me how to make the switch, how to do a couple of things, etcetera. It's been a couple of years of this and she does stuff with her system now that surprises me, an almost eclusively *nix user for decades. She's a pro at the terminal interface now and frequently tells me she prefers doing many things through it because it doesn't assume anything and gets out of her way. She has even filed bug reports and submitted fixes of her own for neglected issues in software she likes and has the knowledge enough to contribute to (!!) Tech literacy is a good thing and should be encouraged.
yes i know this is in badposting no i dont care i love my wife
usually when i complain about linux it's not cos there's a bug its cos im too dumb to figure out what my issue is
Love going to the var folder only to realize it’s not this var, but one of the 500 different var folders within one of the 500 different usr folders within one of the 500 different bin folders
Gobolinux has a more intuitive file heirarchy at the expense of compatibility
have you even lived if you havent been personally yelled at in an email from linus torvalds himself?
Apparently he's had something of a redemption in recent years. He at least seems to be self-aware enough to understand the callous brainiac approach doesn't fly anymore, and he has done a complete 180 on trans stuff iirc.
Yeah there’s a quote where he talks about going to therapy for anger management and how people who hate others because of their gender etc are loser and stuff. I actually think it’s low-key important to have a prominent figurehead like him take more of an active “paradox of intolerance” type stance
He's kind compared to Theo de Raadt
(cw: CSA reference, ableism... and whatever else you can imagine an old white South African Unix techbro (extremely rare variant) saying, it's a lot) https://git.9front.org/plan9front/plan9front/5622b0bbd878dbc34045cc6fd37cffa64461eabe/lib/theo/f.html
Filed a bug report to Arch Linux just recently. They're super cool, got it fixed in under an hour.
