Now there has certainly been an upscale in anti china media particularly sense 2020 when the US War Machine came out with various white papers declaring that the imperialist pressure would be on "strategic competitors" mainly China and Russia rather then the smoke screen that is the so called post 9/11 War On Terror .
BUT the more depressing truism is that Americans will genuinely gorge on this slop and create an distribute it as well. I legit hear anti Chinese comments and attitudes IRL almost every week let alone the media environment. It's really insane .
I've considered myself genuinely aware of how arrogant and bloody thirsty we westerners are but I must admit, the Afghanistan pull out, Ukraine and at the focal point of it all the recent attention to the rise of China has made me realize how fucked we really are .
My family never ONCE spoke about Afghanistan at the dinner table and then when I went and visited family around the time Biden pulled out of (and sanctioned which is currently helping starve children) Afghanistan my family was talking about oh how horrible it was "good ol America abandoned those poor Afghans"! It infuriated me and I went off (a little too much maybe) . Even worse with Ukraine and now China; "China is just as bad as the US! Putin's Hitler! Ukraine gives me hope! China is commiting genocide!" I've heard it all IRL. They don't realize how clearly they've been Psy Oped about China just because it's replacing US primacy and Russia because it is undermining it.
Not to sound extremely ego driven and "oh I'm enlightened everyone else is dumb except me" but it's hard not to hate people at times when these attitudes are so pervasive . It's pathetic.
