The USSR also used Nazi scientists. It would be a waste to get rid of them without siphoning their knowledge first. The difference is that the Soviets didn’t create a legacy for those scientists. They were forced to contribute to rocketry and either shot or told to fuck off back to Germany and live in obscurity forever. Russian students didn’t open up their textbooks and see Dr. Otto von Duffenmurdër-Hirohito being praised as a master of propulsion.
