      That's the difference between a neoliberal and an ancap. The neoliberal understands that the state's organs of violence are needed to maintain existing property relations. The ancap doesn't get that.

      Edit: Or the ancap doesn't want that because they're petit boug and think they can claw their way to the top as a warlord.

        "Ancaps" and other ultraliberals are just utopian neoliberals. They ideologically agree with the positions of neoliberalism, but hate the material reality of it and so insist utopia can come about by doubling down on the same positions.

      But then what keeps the mercenaries from just :owned: them and supplanting them directly? Cash? Cause eventually, they're going to realize they can make more money by just removing the intermediary

        The show Deadwood shows some interesting example for this. Since Deadwood wasn't part of USA yet, they didn't have US law force present. Capitalist Hearst gets his pvt merc Pinkertons and proceed to bulldoze all the local petit boug establishments
