Others have already said this but our media is capitalist and wont bring attention to things that threaten it unless they can shine a negative light on it

"the revolution will not be televised except to slander it" just doesn't have the same ring. I'm starting to think this Gil Scott Heron guy might have been a poet. :comedian:

Because television is a capital enterprise.

All streaming platforms are capitalist enterprises.

    Revolution threatens capital.

Therefore, it won't be televised. QED

because of who owns the media.

which is why when police murder videos could get out widely on social media, revolts happened.

the internet is just television for the generation that thinks its too smart to fall for all the bullshit on television. like zero difference. maybe we're more active particpants in our own pacification now. "alt media" has failed to solve the fundamental problems of mass media. more young americans than ever call themselves socialists, communists, or leftists. we make memes about doing a general strike. we tweet at our representative. every political faction since the turn of the millennium has somehow come to believe that now that people have access to The Truth with just one Google search, Consciousness will expand, People will start to Wake Up, and therefore its preferred eschaton is nigh. The only faction for which this seems to have been true is neoliberalism.
