    It's so tiring to exist in this world. Even on sites like this which are supposed to be cool and good, we have disgusting awful fucking chuds bragging about how much suffering they cause. How in the world am I supposed to empathize or work with people who happily, proudly participate in the murder and exploitation of others for pleasure? It's exhausting. The fact that the site's moderators explicitly protect these people makes me unhappy to even hang around here. Any person I reply to has a pretty significant chance of coming around a few days later and talking about how much they love abusing animals and will get upset if you call them out for it, and if you call them out for it too much you risk getting banned from the site yourself. I've genuinely never felt this way before because I've never really had expectations of a site before, but it feels sincerely unsafe to me. Or ... uncomfortable. I don't know the word. I just don't like it here anymore.

      Also I'd just like to add that I hope the admins ban me for my "slave owners should be killed" comment in response to that carnist chud in the other thread, because it would be so fucking funny to be banned from this site for the same thing we got banned from Reddit as a whole for. Please let it happen.

      It's really exhausting. We're supposed to do better as leftists. Removing an animal's autonomy and killing it for some sick need to eat corpses is not at all in line with our values. I don't understand people like this and they genuinely make me so uncomfortable. It's often the same few freakish carnists that genuinely seem to take pleasure in their abuse and murder of animals too

      I really appreciate all the vegan comrades that stay here and the weekly mega is the most active it's ever been. I hope you stick around, because seeing you dunk on carnists is great and you're a cool person to talk to anyway

      just want to say i always appreciate your posts on this site, youre one of the most steadfast voices here standing up against cruelty to animals and it sucks that you get so much shit for it from insecure carnists

        :meow-hug: I appreciate it. It's just difficult. It would be like if we had a significant chunk of users who were proud landlords and said "stop lecturing me about my job" if you pointed out why that's evil and the mods would ban you if you make too much of a struggle session about landlords because that would make all the landlord users upset. Just this weird black hole of empathy that exists on this site for some reason, where it's pretty much cool regarding every other issue. People will at least listen and learn (or get banned) if you're calling them out for racism or sexism or transphobia or liberalism or imperialism or anti-sex-worker talking points or any of that shit, but the moment you point out that maybe it's wrong to have a slave class which you harvest for their organs because you think they taste good suddenly you're being unreasonable, you're just supposed to coexist with people who support that system.

        And it just comes back down to the fact that, as I understand it, some of the site mods are proud slave owners themselves so of course it's never going to be considered totally acceptable here to call people out for it.

          if its any consolation at all, i really do think a lot of the omnis on this site are a lot closer to making the mental leap to veganism than they (or we) might think, and the reflexive hostility is often a reflection of their internalised guilt, cause you cant be a leftist on every other issue without knowing at some level that what youre doing is horrendously wrong.

          i never did the tantrums like this person, but to my shame i was the defensive nonvegan leftist for faaaaaaaaaaar too long until i pulled my head out of my arse, and i recognise my own old thought processes in shit like this

          our existence in their spaces is a constant reminder to them that they could and should be better, and i really do think we will eventually win with a lot of them

            I agree with this. I've personally gotten messages from people I never thought would be vegan, who finally self crit and came around
