When I think about what made me go vegetarian - it was getting my first pet (guinea pig). I cared about my guinea pig, but realized people regularly kill and eat these animals. So I went vegetarian and thought that was enough. A decade later I finally met some vegans who taught me that it wasn't enough, so I went vegan
I just don't understand people who have pets or comment on how cute pics of animals are, but also want them dead so they can eat them. It's fucked up
Also it was great to take some time away from the site (personal stuff), and come back to seeing this thread so active! :avoheart:
