I'll be amazed if we have anyone who wants to be a teacher in the next generation. It's already an incredibly difficult and time intensive job that requires out of pocket, unreimbursed spending on a near poverty salary even with graduate degrees and now there's a horde of right wing psychos doxxing them to their equally rabid following for having or teaching any sort of dog whistle they've made in their own heads

Yeah a friend's SO is a social worker and makes less than a third of what they do, and works more than twice as much as their self described meaningless tech job requires. Our capitalist system sure knows how to properly allocate resources to the most important jobs :yea:

My partner wanted to help kids out, and did while they were there (and a bit after), but...they just burned out. Too stressful dealing with ridiculous parents, insane testing demands, demands from admin boards detached from the current reality, and atrocious pay.

They started working before I did on a given day, finished grading and working around the same time or later than I did, made far less and were far more stressed the entire time.

And they WANTED to help; nobody is gonna want to do a job that pays like shit, treats you like shit, and works you to death.

They found a solution to the teacher shortage. It's not better pay or better conditions, none of that gay commie shit. No, they found out they could hire veterans to teach instead of real teachers or use cops as substitute teachers. Not only does this solve the teacher shortage, it also makes sure that education is not "political" but that it is based on true red blooded American patriotism.
