No. They banned them for telling someone to go kill themselves. You'd get banned from hexbear for doing the same.

You can't respond to an insult, even an ableist one, with threats of bodily harm/violence. Obviously that will get your account banned on PSN. Especially if you initiated the messaging chain like they did.

I mean there's a difference between responding to a public message by a fash on Hexbear, compared to being the one to initiate a private message chain and harrass someone on PSN because they celebrated a goal. And then when the person throws ableist insults back after being harrassed, OP escalates with kys. There were so many opportunities for OP to just not do that. Obviously a service like PSN run by Sony corporates is going to ban that.

And I remember that imaybewrong person getting banned for thowing around the kys way too much

That's irrelevant to whether or not OP deserved compassion or support. That's my point, not that they shouldn't ban people for things like that.

OP told someone to kill themselves instead of just reporting the ableist. They then started harassing the ableist troll. That plays right into what that troll wanted and also got their own account banned. “Reacting to ableism” is putting it mildly. Being ND isn’t an excuse for raging out at people.

Your response was not okay, but I see why you were so upset

Just because they hurt you first by being ableist doesn’t give you justification to verbally abuse someone.

You were toxic and got what you deserved.

I don't fully understand the social aspects here

I'm just gonna wait until one of the neurotypicals on this site explains the social context and why this is bad, so I can quietly take notes

      • OP was giving away wins in a video game.

      • After you score a goal, you can celebrate in the game. It is a established practice that if you are given a win, you don't celebrate the goal. Because you didn't earn it. The person OP was playing against celebrated the goals, and winding them up with the celebrations.

      • OP proceeded to harrass the person they were playing against via direct messages to find out why they were celebrating the goals. The person responds with an ableist insult asking if OP is "on the spectrum". OP tells them to go kill themselves. OP gets banned.

      Considering that

      1. OP initiated the direct message chain/contact, not the other person.
      2. OP escalated from insults to threats of bodily harm/violence.
      3. OP isn't even neurodiverse themselves, so not part of the identity being insulted

OP was obviously going to get banned.

The troll succeeded in winding OP up. With goal celebrations of all things
